दुःखों का कारण

शास्त्र कहते हैं कि अज्ञान ही मनुष्य के दुःखों का मूल कारण है। ज्ञान का अभाव ही अज्ञान है। अपने वास्तविक स्वरूप का ज्ञान न होना ही अज्ञान है और अपने सत्-चित्-आनंदस्वरूप का बोध होना ही ज्ञान है। सत्य-असत्य, नित्य-अनित्य का ज्ञान न होना ही अज्ञान है और इसका ज्ञान होना ही वास्तविक ज्ञान है। अपनी अज्ञानता के कारण ही मनुष्य को विभिन्न जन्मों में जो शरीर मिलता रहा है, वह उसी को अपना सब कुछ मानता रहा है।

Ignorance is the lack of knowledge of one's true nature, and knowledge of one's true-chit-ananda form is knowledge. Ignorance is the absence of knowledge of truth and falsehood, eternal and impermanent, and knowing it is real knowledge. Due to his ignorance, the body that man has been getting in different births, he has been considering it as his everything.
